Matthew McCabe

Biography

Matthew McCabe is a Professor of Remote Sensing and Water Security at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and Director of the KAUST Climate and Livability Initiative. With a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Newcastle, Australia, he has held postdoctoral positions at Princeton University and Los Alamos National Laboratory, and was an Associate Professor at UNSW, Australia.

His research spans water and food security, climate change impacts, precision agriculture, and Earth observation technologies. A Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher since 2019, he has authored over 220 papers and plays a leading role in global climate initiatives, including G20, WCRP, and GCOS.

Dr. McCabe co-founded SarSatx and is Specialty Chief Editor for Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence. In 2022, he was awarded the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water for his groundbreaking contributions to water security and climate science.
