Nisreen Abu Waer

Doctoral Researcher, Urban Lab, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology

Biography

Nisreen Abuwaer is a PhD researcher in Environmental Science and Engineering at KAUST, where her work explores the intersection of climate change, urban resilience, and human biometeorology. Her research investigates how extreme heat and weather events influence active mobility, specifically walkability, as well as thermal comfort and urban livability, with a particular focus on Saudi Arabia’s urban environments. By integrating field data, climate projections, and thermal comfort simulations, Nisreen develops insights into how urban systems can adapt to rising temperatures, supporting climate-resilient cities that enhance human well-being and active mobility under climate stress.
