Associate Professor, National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, India
Biography
Krishna is an Associate Professor at the National Institute of Technology Rourkela, specializing in numerical weather prediction of extreme events such as tropical cyclones, severe thunderstorms, heatwaves, and monsoon depressions. His research emphasizes high-resolution reanalysis through the assimilation of diverse observations into model initial conditions to enhance extreme weather forecasts. He also investigates land–atmosphere interactions and applies land data assimilation to improve model performance. Dr. Krishna contributes to climate research on weather extremes, has collaborated on international projects, served as a visiting scientist at NOAA-HRD/AOML and NASA-JPL, and is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, India.
