Biography
David Sailor is a Professor & Director of the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning at Arizona State University and leads the U.S. Department of Energy–funded Southwest Integrated Field Laboratory (SW-IFL). His research focuses on the interactions between climate and the built environment, emphasizing urban heat mitigation, building energy use, and thermal comfort. He has extensively studied urban heat islands, developing strategies to reduce heat impacts through innovative materials, technologies, and urban design. His work bridges high-resolution modeling, field observations, and civic engagement to create predictive tools that address extreme heat challenges in cities across diverse regions.
