Biography

Dev Niyogi is the William Stamps Farish Chair Professor in Geosciences and UNESCO Chair in AI, Water, and Cities at The University of Texas at Austin. His research aims to advance our understanding of the Earth system, particularly urban and agricultural landscapes, and the dynamic role of coupled land–surface processes in weather and regional meteorological extremes. An important and emerging focus of his work is translating scientific research into decision-support tools and portals, with an emphasis on hydroclimatology and the development of sustainable, climate-ready, and resilient cities through stakeholder partnerships, AI/ML approaches, and Digital Twin technologies.
