Liang Jing

Head of the Energy Traceability Technology, Aramco

Biography

Liang Jing is the head of the Energy Traceability Technology Group in the Technology Strategy &
Planning Department at Saudi Aramco, where he leads the research and development in tracing global
energy supply chains such as oil, gas, power, hydrogen, and providing carbon intensity estimates by
lifecycle stage. This provides decision support to Aramco’s strategic business decisions and investments
using a transparent data-driven approach and helps position Aramco in the global context via carbon
intensity benchmarking. Prior to joining Aramco in 2023, he was a senior scientist at Aramco Americas
Detroit Research Centre and before that a research associate at the University of Calgary. Liang has a
bachelor’s degree from Tsinghua University in Thermal Power Engineering, a master’s and a PhD degree
from Memorial University in Environmental Engineering. He has over 40 publications in peer-reviewed
journals such as Nature Climate Change and Nature Communications.
