Guido Sonnemann is a full professor at the University of Bordeaux, France, where he holds a chair of excellence in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), focusing on the priority sectors of the New Aquitaine region. He leads the Life Cycle Group CyVi at the Institute of Molecular Sciences, researching LCA, sustainable chemistry, and materials management. Sonnemann is also vice-chair of the Executive Committee of the Forum for Sustainability through Life Cycle Innovation (FSLCI) and the Education Committee of KICT EIT Raw Materials.
Previously, Sonnemann served as UNEP Programme Officer for Sustainable Innovation and Life Cycle Management, where he was the Science Focal Point for UNEP's Resource Efficiency sub-programme. He was instrumental in establishing the International Resource Panel and led the UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative Secretariat for a decade. He has published extensively, including on integrating life cycle and risk assessment in Nature Nano. Sonnemann holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University Rovira in Spain.
