Llorenç Milà i Canals is the Head of the Secretariat of the Life Cycle Initiative, based in Paris. Launched in 2002 and hosted by UN Environment, the Life Cycle Initiative is a multi-stakeholder partnership aimed at promoting the global use of credible life cycle knowledge for informed decision-making by both private and public sectors. The initiative brings together around 80 institutions—governments, businesses, academia, and civil society—along with hundreds of individual experts who work to improve, share, and apply life cycle knowledge in policy and sustainability efforts.
Llorenç joined UN Environment in 2013 to lead its life cycle thinking initiatives, drawing on his extensive background in academia and industry. His expertise lies in environmental assessment of products, particularly Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and its application in developing sustainable business models and policy frameworks. His work continues to shape global efforts to integrate life cycle thinking into sustainable development practices.
