Qasem Alobaydan

Biography

Qasem Alobaydan is a master’s student in Environmental Science and Engineering at the Urban Lab, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), under the KAUST Gifted Student Program (KGSP). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with honors from Michigan State University, where he gained research experience in automotive engineering and contributed to projects at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB). His research interests center on life cycle assessment, clean energy, and decarbonization, with a focus on advancing sustainable solutions for future energy and water systems.

Research Interests

Qasem’s research applies Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to evaluate the environmental performance of energy and carbon management technologies. His recent work includes assessing onboard carbon capture systems (OCCS) in maritime transport as a decarbonization pathway. He is also interested in clean energy transitions, energy-water-climate interactions, and system-level modeling to support sustainable and resilient resource management
