Biography
Naushin Yasmin earned her B.Tech in Civil Engineering with honors in Environmental Engineering from KIIT University, India, in 2022. She is currently pursuing an MS in Environmental Science and Engineering at KAUST, Saudi Arabia, where she focuses on urban climate systems, including urban heat islands and Google Earth Engine applications. Her research experience encompasses energy recovery from wastewater, greenhouse gas emissions from composting and vermicomposting, and regional climate modeling for rainfall and air pollution. Naushin has been recognized with the KIIT University Founder's All-rounder Gold Medal (2022), the NTU-India Connect Research Internship Award (2021), and a DAAD Scholarship. She has also completed research internships at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and the University of Alberta, Canada.
Research Interests
Naushin’s research focuses on the impacts of climate change on urban systems and the role of regional climate modeling in understanding these effects. She examines climate extremes, air pollution, and extreme weather events. By integrating climate change mitigation strategies with GIS, Naushin investigates how urban areas can adapt to and mitigate climate impacts. Her research enhances understanding of climate effects on urban environments and develops practical solutions to improve resilience and sustainability in the face of increasing climate challenges.
