Biography

Mehzabeen Mannan holds a PhD (2023) and an MSc (2018) in Sustainable Environment from Hamad Bin Khalifa University, alongside a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (2016). Her research focuses on sustainable construction practices, particularly the life cycle assessment (LCA) of materials like fiber-reinforced polymers and geopolymers, aiming to reduce environmental impacts in the built environment. She has co-authored several publications, including studies on the environmental benefits of active living walls and the integration of circular economy principles with LCA. Mehzabeen also has experience as a teaching assistant at HBKU (2018-2021), where she contributed to the academic development of sustainable engineering concepts and practices.

Research Interests

Mehzabeen Mannan’s research focuses on sustainable construction practices, particularly the life cycle assessment (LCA) of materials such as fiber-reinforced polymers and geopolymers. She explores the environmental and mechanical performance of these alternatives to traditional materials like steel and cement. Her work also examines the integration of recycled plastics in concrete, the use of supplementary cementitious materials, and strategies to decarbonize building materials, all aimed at promoting eco-friendly, durable, and sustainable infrastructure in the built environment.
