VISITING RESEARCHERS
Research Assistant (Jan 2025-June 2025)
Ghaida holds a Bachelor’s degree in Cartography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from Taibah University (2024), graduating with First Class Honors and a concentration in remote sensing and spatial analysis. Throughout her academic journey, she gained extensive practical experience in various environmental research projects, with a particular focus on air quality and urban sustainability. Ghaida joined King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in 2025 as a Research Assistant at the Urban Lab. She contributes to a leading research project analyzing air quality in the Makkah region using satellite technologies and precise field data. The project utilizes Google Earth Engine for satellite data analysis, ArcGIS for creating spatial maps, and Python for data processing and analysis. Her work supports the development of Air Quality Index (AQI) maps to aid environmental decision-making
Ghidaa Abdulmohsen Alenazi’s research focuses on studying the impacts of climate change on urban systems, relying on advanced technologies in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial data analysis to understand environmental challenges in hot and arid regions, particularly in Saudi Arabia. Her current research involves analyzing air quality and atmospheric pollutant concentrations using satellite data and ground-based monitoring systems, aiming to assess the effects of climate change on air quality and support the development of effective adaptation and mitigation strategies.
Ghidaa’s work concentrates on examining air pollution patterns, environmental resource management, and the impacts of climate change by integrating spatial modeling with environmental monitoring. Her research contributes to delivering scientific and practical solutions that enhance urban resilience and support sustainable urban development in the face of escalating climate challenges.
