Biography
Firas Hilaloglu, a distinguished civil engineer from Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey, achieved high honors and was named to the Dean's List in 2023. He is currently pursuing an MS in Environmental Science and Engineering at KAUST, Saudi Arabia. Firas is dedicated to addressing global warming and reducing emissions to safeguard future generations. His research focuses on Earth Systems Science and designing eco-friendly structures to enhance sustainability. By integrating advanced engineering principles with environmental stewardship, he aims to create a healthier, more resilient world.
Research Interests
Firas’s research uses Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to evaluate and reduce environmental impacts in construction projects. He applies LCA during the design stage to identify and reduce the ecological footprints of building materials and processes. By analyzing impacts from resource extraction to end-of-life disposal, Firas aims to guide the creation of eco-friendly buildings that enhance sustainability. His approach ensures that design decisions result in structures that are both sustainable and beneficial to the environment.
