Visiting PhD Student, Environmental Science and Engineering (Nov 2024 - April 2025)
Deepak Kumar is a Ph.D. Research Scholar in the Department of Architecture and Planning at NIT Patna. His research focuses on carbon emissions in building construction, sustainable urban development, and life cycle assessment (LCA) in the built environment. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Planning. He has received training in Building Information Modeling (BIM) from Pinnacle Infotech and Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA) from One-Click LCA. Additionally, he has collaborated internationally, including with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). His work aims to support sustainable urban planning and the development of resilient infrastructure.
Deepak Kumar’s research integrates Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Building Information Modeling (BIM), and urban planning to enhance sustainability in the built environment. He focuses on early design-phase LCA to reduce embodied carbon and operational energy, leveraging BIM-LCA workflows to establish carbon benchmarks, optimize materials, and improve resource efficiency. His work also explores circular economy strategies for net-zero urban development. Committed to data-driven frameworks, he aims to inform policy, design, and infrastructure planning for resilient and sustainable cities.
