Biography
Amjad Azmeer is a Ph.D. student in Environmental Science and Engineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia, specializing in the impact of nature-based solutions for urban resilience in arid climates. He earned a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the National University of Singapore and a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from the American University of Sharjah. Prior to his Ph.D., Amjad worked as a Sustainability Associate for the UN Global Compact Network in Sri Lanka, where he helped clients set and progress on Science Based Targets. He was also recognized as a Future Sustainability Leader by Masdar in the UAE and worked at Air Liquide. His research focuses on enhancing urban resilience through innovative environmental strategies.
Research Interests
Amjad’s work focuses on integrating green infrastructure solutions to enhance urban resilience and sustainability. By utilizing advanced computational numerical modeling techniques like WRF and ENVI-met, Amjad hopes to investigate the cooling impact of green infrastructure arid climates at different spatial scales. His research also emphasizes the role of green infrastructure policies to influence urban reslience.
