POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

Postdoctoral Fellow (June 2026 – Present)

Biography

Dr. Alberto Pietro Damiano Baltrocchi is an environmental engineer and Postdoctoral Fellow at the KAUST Urban Lab. He holds a PhD in Chemical and Environmental Sciences from the University of Insubria, Italy, and has gained international research experience across several European institutions. He has also collaborated with industrial partners on sustainability assessments of materials, products, and construction systems. His work bridges academic research and industrial applications in environmental sustainability.

Research Interests

Alberto’s research focuses on the life cycle sustainability of materials and technologies for the built environment. He applies Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Life Cycle Costing (LCC) to evaluate low-carbon construction materials, seawater concrete, recycled and alternative materials, and innovative reinforcement solutions. His interests also include circular economy, resource efficiency, material substitution, and eco-design, with the aim of providing robust, evidence-based support for sustainable decision-making.
