The LCA and EPD Workshop at KAUST will bring together international experts, policymakers, industry leaders, and academics to drive the integration of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) in Saudi Arabia. The event will focus on advancing lifecycle thinking as a foundation for sustainable development, aligning with ISO 14040/14044 standards for LCA and ISO 14025 and EN 15804 standards for EPDs. Over three days, participants will explore how LCA supports science-based decision-making, enabling evidence-based policies and environmental product transparency, while EPDs provide a standardized communication platform for supply chains and international trade. The workshop will showcase the emerging Saudi National Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) initiative, present strategies for building credible LCA and EPD systems, and discuss opportunities for integration into global sustainability frameworks, procurement policies, and carbon markets. By connecting international expertise with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives, this workshop will establish a collaborative platform to strengthen regional capacity, foster innovation, and position Saudi Arabia as a leader in lifecycle-based environmental management and product certification.
